Candidate for Congress | Utah's 4th District
Conservative Republican
I'm Scott A. Hatfield Jr., and my journey into politics is fueled by a strong commitment to serve the people of Utah's 4th Congressional District. With a background in various governmental roles, including the City of Ridgecrest, California, the United States Navy, the Department of Veterans Affairs, the Utah Department of Corrections, and work with the United States Senate, I bring a wealth of experience and a grounded understanding of public service.
My decision to run for Congress is rooted in a desire to provide the people of Utah's 4th District with a clear choice. I believe our district deserves a representative who will fight for its needs while also standing firmly for the interests of Utah and the country as a whole. I intend to be a proactive voice in Washington, one who listens to constituents and ensures that federal policy reflects the needs and values of the people I represent.
Education has played a key role in preparing me for this responsibility. I earned my degree in Political Science with an emphasis in American Government and constitutional studies from Utah Valley University. My academic journey also took me to Oxford University in England, where I gained a broader global perspective on governance and the role of democratic institutions. I later completed a Master of Public Administration, strengthening my understanding of public policy, administration, and the challenges facing modern government.
My policy priorities focus on the issues that matter most to Utah families. I am committed to lowering taxes, protecting constitutional liberties, defending American sovereignty, and ensuring that federal overreach does not undermine the rights of our state and its citizens. I will advocate for responsible economic growth, support energy independence that includes Utah's traditional energy sectors, protect access to public lands for responsible use, and fight to keep Washington accountable to the people.
Public safety and the strength of our communities also remain central priorities. I support reforms that enhance public safety while maintaining accountability within the justice system. I will defend election integrity, support the men and women who serve in law enforcement, and ensure that our immigration laws are enforced.
My personal background has shaped my commitment to public service. Growing up in a single parent household below the poverty line taught me the value of resilience, discipline, and hard work. As the first in my immediate family to graduate from college, I understand both the opportunities and challenges facing everyday Americans. Those experiences guide my belief that government should serve the people, not control them.
In essence, I am running for Congress because I believe in the promise of this country and the responsibility we all share to protect it. With a commitment to service, a respect for the Constitution, and a determination to represent the people of Utah's 4th District with integrity, I seek to bring principled leadership to Washington.
I am calling on the people of Utah’s 4th Congressional District to stand together and send a strong voice from Utah to Washington, D.C. A voice that will defend our Constitution, protect our freedoms, and represent the values that built this country.
This campaign is not about politics as usual. It is about restoring leadership that answers to the people, not to special interests, party machines, or the political class in Washington.
I ask you to stand with me. Get involved. Volunteer your time. Share this message with your friends and neighbors. Together we can build a movement that represents the hardworking men and women of Utah.
Send someone to Congress who will fight for Utah families, Utah values, and the Constitution of the United States.
The future of our district, our state, and our country is worth fighting for. Join me.
Most importantly, I am running to be a voice not only for the people of Utah’s 4th Congressional District, but for all Utahns. If elected, I will serve in Congress as a representative of the people, standing firm for the Constitution, defending the interests of Utah families, and ensuring the voices of our communities are heard in Washington, D.C.
I believe leadership means standing with the people you represent. My commitment is simple: to represent this district with integrity, to fight for the values that define our state, and to ensure Utah always has a strong and principled voice in our nation's capital.
